Ella and Golly Wally playing play dough

This week I’m grateful for:

  • A new family member. No, I’m not pregnant. And we haven’t got a puppy. Heaven forbid. This week it was our turn to give Golly Wally from child care a home. The idea is to make a story and take photos of Golly Wally’s week with us. So far he’s slept in Ella’s bed (kept her up far too late, mind you. Bad influence), played play dough and been shopping.
  • Which brings me to… mum taking Ella (and Golly Wally) out for a special lunch (aka Maccas) and a tour of the shops. Yes, put those three together and credit cards aren’t safe. Somehow the shopping gene skipped me. Later, after returning from her day out, Ella asked: “Mum, will I be a grandma one day?’’ Hmm, let’s slow down a bit, shall we. By the way, you can read about their day at the Holliview Way blog.
  • Some extremely exciting news in our family. Something that makes me incredibly proud. Unfortunately, I can’t spill the beans just yet. I know, what a tease. However, there will be a full post in the morning (Saturday). Can’t wait to share.

I’m joining with  Maxabella Loves to share what I’m grateful for.

  1. Oh man, we had a toy at preschool called Gypsy, i was a platypus i think, too many children & too many preschools, anyway, we had Gypsy the week after our amazing friends took her to Yum Cha, on a ferry trip to Manly, a sleep over . . . then our turn . . . it started off badly with Gyspy landing on the roof of our neighbour’s garage before she got in the house!! It didn’t get much better, so i made her a sleeping bag & some new clothes to jazz up the adventure. Love Posie

LOL!! That’s too cute, Posie. I’m betting no other family made Gypsy a sleeping bag or new clothes!! If I had a choice between a Manly ferry trip and a new wardrobe, I’d go the wardrobe! 😉

  2. Tat says:

We had that at my son’s daycare last year, only it was Skippy the kangaroo (I hope I learn how to spell kangaroo one day without having to spell-check it three times). That was so much excitement. But we only got to keep him for one night.

    • Kel says:

Oh, how cute, Tat. I’m dreading when we have to give Golly Wally back. I think after a week of him, she’s become rather attached!! 🙂

  3. Shelley says:

I love this. When I worked in childcare we had a teddy that used to do the rounds and go on all manner of adventures! Looking forward to hearing your news, and feeling very excited for you! Hope you have a lovely weekend. xx

    • Kel says:

Thanks Shelley. It’s funny to see how excited they become about playing host. We’re constantly having to consult with Golly Wally before we do anything. Very cute!
PS. The exciting news is now live!! 😉

  4. She looks like she’s loving the added company!
I find the responsibilty of these class toys a bit daunting sometimes! I’m terrified we’ll lose it (as it seems to have to go *ehheverywhere* with us!!).
But they usually get a long overdue bath at my place (which is nice for the next person)
    have a great weekend
    xxxCate

    • Kel says:

Oh, I like the idea of giving them a bath, Cate. Although, Golly Wally looks decidedly clean! Maybe someone before us did that.
And yes, she’s loving having a new friend in the house. Someone else for our chatterbox to talk to. 🙂

  5. So much gratitude!
Enjoy Golly Wally – the other kids will love his new threads.
    🙂

    • Kel says:

We certainly will enjoy him. Only a few days left ’til he goes back to his “home”. Think someone’s going to be rather sad to say goodbye!

  6. Carlene says:

We had a lovely little toy tiger named Maloo come home with us several times last year. My children loved taking him on adventures and we recorded his whole excursion to our house in a special book to take to school to share. I think it’s a lovely idea. Can’t wait to hear about your big news!

    • Kel says:

I think the book idea is just wonderful, Carlene. The childcare sent home a book with Golly Wally for us to include our story in. I loved reading all the other kids’ stories about what they got up to with Golly and looking at all their photos. Some of them were quite funny.

  7. Oh he is cute! You will be asked to make one next 🙂 and you a tease! never! hehe

    • Kel says:

LOL!! We have a miniature version her uncle made her when she was born. So if she asks for one, I’ll pull him out!!;)
I’ve never attempted knitting a doll or teddy yet. I dread to think how it would turn out!
