Dora the Explorer live concertThis week I’m grateful for:

  • Having control over my own uterus: This is the conversation I had with Ella this week: Ella: “Mum, can we have a brother?’’. Me: “No, darling, you struggle to look after your sister, let alone having a brother.’’ Ella: “Pleeeeeease, I’ll look after Holly more. I promise.’’ Me: “No darling, unfortunately we can’t’’. Ella: “Ooooohhhh, but I waaaant a brother. I will be very sad.’’ She then starts crying. Real tears. As I said. I’m grateful I have control over my own uterus. We are not getting a brother.  (PS. A long conversation ensued after this).
  • Going to Melbourne: After deciding we wouldn’t have any more trips to the big island this year, a bloggy trip for me, cheap flights and constant pestering from Princess Ella to see her uncle somehow swayed us. Within 10 minutes of the idea. So… woohoo! Any suggestions on what to do are most welcome.
  • Dora: Did I really just say Dora? Yes, I believe I did. She entertained Princess Ella for an hour and a half this afternoon, with all her over-sized friends, extremely daggy backdrops and irritatingly high-pitched singing voice. And I’m grateful for “who I know’’ not “what I know’’. Having booked tickets so late Ella and I weren’t even meant to be sitting in the same row, because of my past as a music journo we got the entire VIP row near the front of the theatre BY OURSELVES. Although, I might add, the downside of being up front is choking on the contents of the smoke machine.

I’m joining Maxabella Loves‘ I’m grateful for, hosted this week by Jody from Lemon Rhodes.

lol Ella sounds more like a 8 yr old begging for a puppy than a Princess begging for a brother! Yay for Melbourne – enjoy your trip. I’m looking forward to King Tut & the Vic Markets. Oh, and copious amounts of shopping of course 🙂 Good work on Dora. My boys desperately wanted to go but I just couldn’t face. Bad mummy. I definitely would not of got VIP seats!

    • Kel says:

Ooh, I never thought of the markets. Might have to squeeze a visit into the schedule!!
I wouldn’t be too upset about missing Dora, Nee. I think if I had a choice, I’d do Dorothy next time! I found her show a little more polished! Although, Ella loved both! 🙂

  2. Caz says:

Poor princess Ella, are you sure you wouldn’t like to pop out a little prince for her to play with!! Guess not – you’ve have to change the name of the blog!! She is so funny and cute!!

  3. jody says:

Yay for a trip to Melbourne, i hope you enjoy your time here!
Glad Ella loved Dora, so lucky to get front row seats!! xx

    • Kel says:

Really looking forward to Melbourne, Jody. We were there earlier in the year and had a ball! Hopefully the weather’s a little better this time – says the Tasmanian!! LOL! 🙂

  4. Mandy says:

I can sit through most kids stuff if it means I get to relax, I love that there are people / characters out there that can capture their attention like that. enjoy Melbourne.

    • Kel says:

Same here, Mandy. Usually I quite enjoy the kids’ shows. This time I had a little baby princess who was teething and overtired, which didn’t make for a very relaxing experience for poor ol’ mum!! Lots of wriggling! Aarrgghh!! 😉

  5. You’ll never hear the words Grateful for Dora coming out of my mouth! Hehe.

  6. Rebecca says:

This is golden 🙂 made me laugh. What chaos there would be if siblings controlled the uterus. Great Post!
    B xx

  7. Tat says:

My son has been whining for another baby, too. I thought I wanted one, too, but now that i’m at my parents’ I’m having second thoughts. Getting to Europe with three kids (and my husband usually not travelling) will be complicated.

  8. Elisha says:

Oh dear, Im sitting here reading this – thinking, well i am glad i have control of my uterus too, it might have taken 5 kids, but i think i have it worked out now!

  9. heehee sounds like Miss M.. she cries for a sister all the time.. Ive told her even if we did have another baby it might be a boy and then she cries Im going to be just like you and have all brothers(ive got 8 I dont think Id stop well before that lol).. poor kid

    • Kel says:

Aww, the poor li’l thing! It’s so hard for them to understand how it all works. If only it were as easy as it seems in their li’l heads!! Hehe! 🙂

  10. Lisa Wood says:

Too funny! She can borrow one of our boys 🙂

Funny how we can have control of our uterus…I would love another baby but hubby decided feeding five boys was more than enough. When we were pregnant with our last baby (who is now 6) all of our boys begged us to have a little girl. Our second boy even went as far to say “Dont bring the baby home if its a boy” – lucky he fell in love with our youngest at first sight, and there was no more issues.

We so would love a little girl – maybe one day we will have granddaughters.

    Cheers
    Lisa

    • Kel says:

Thank goodness he loved his little brother, Lisa. I’d hate to think how you’d deal with that situation!! Funny how life seems to simple to them. “Yep, Mum, just pop out a little girl for us this time!” 🙂

  11. I’m grateful I have control over my uterus too! I DO NOT want any more kids. Least Addison wont ask for a Brother and Logan wont ask for a Sister.
I’m not sure I’ll ever be grateful for Dora {or Bindi}. But having the WHOLE front row to ourselves is very VIP! I’ve inhaled that smoke, its not good. A little light headed afterwards.

    • Kel says:

Oh, you have it all sorted, Courtney! A pigeon pair is perfect! Unless Addison wants a sister to play tea parties with and Logan wants a brother to play trucks with!! LOL! 😉
And yes, that smoke is lethal!! I’d hate to think what’s in it!

  12. Rebekah says:

Pretty much the best blog title ever! Love it! Thanks for the giggle!

  13. Di says:

Its nice to know we can have control over some things! 😉

When will you be in Melbourne? The Zoo’s an obvious suggestion but there may be some specific things on in town. Olive get’s excited if we just jump on a tram and have an ice cream!

    • Kel says:

We’ll be there mid November, Di. I might email you the exact dates. We went to the Aquarium last time, so we thought the zoo might be good this time. Plus., Ella has no memory of the last time she went to the zoo, but I do remember she loved every minute of it (till she fell asleep!!).
The trams were definitely super exciting for Ella when we were there in May. Melbourne is such a whole new world for her! 🙂

  14. Louisa says:

Wohoo! You are a stronger woman than me, I am sooo clucky at the moment!

As for Melbourne, I wanna date with you!
