Ella's first day of pre-kindy photo. Hmmm...

THIS week I’m grateful for:

  • Pigs Breath: After The Bloke in The Shed completed the Skilled Burnie Ten in 1 hour and 18 minutes last Sunday, we celebrated with a dinner at the local. We were wondering why Princess Ella was downing his calamari rings so fast, till we realised she thought they were curly fries from“pigs breath’’. I’m just grateful she got a good serving of seafood.
  • First day of pre-kindy: I could write a whole post on why Ella’s first 1.5-hour pre-kindy session today was so enjoyable for her. Ella was more than excited to go to “big girl school’’ and it was made all that much better when three of her childcare friends were in her class. That is music to a nervous mum’s ears. It seems school holds just a little bit of magic for her too when, prior to arriving, she started talking about her teacher who she met during the interview process. “Miss X can fly sometimes, can’t she, Mum?’’. Ah no, I think you might have her mistaken for the lady with the umbrella and flower in her hat.
  • Halloween help: Thanks to my Twitter friends (most of which I’ve never met but are always there when I need them), I have plenty of ideas for Ella’s Halloween costume for childcare on Monday.

I’m joining with Maxabella Loves to share what I’m grateful for.

It’s fabulous Ella loved her kindy already – will make next year so much easier for you. And yes twitter is the best for idea and advice. What did we do before twitter??

  2. Oh, I can just imagine Ella downing those ‘curly fries’. So adorable! And I love that she is loving kinder. It will make life so much more wonderful next year 😉

    Happy Grateful Day Kellie. xx

Thanks Kymmie. Yes, the school situation has been a huge weight off my shoulders. It will be interesting to see how she copes when I have to leave her next year. Although, having some friends in her class will certainly make the whole process much easier. 🙂

  3. Thanks for the chuckle – pig’s breath!! She is so cute and it is awesome that she loved big girl school and thinks her teacher can fly! cute!

I will never think of calamari rings as anything other than Pig’s Breath again.

It’s always a great sign when early days at Kindy go so very well. She is obviously ready for ‘big school’ and that is so comforting for a mumma.

Halloween? Oh, yes. I am still recovering from Easter. Although we had a great time the past two years, I wonder if the kids will notice if we skip it this year… Do I really need another ‘hallmark tradition’ in my life?

    • Kel says:

Have to admit, Bron, I have never done Halloween. Ever. Hence my need to consult Twitter! If it hadn’t fallen on a child care day, I probably would have let is slip on through too! We’ve finally settled on a witches outfit, complete with broom! 🙂

Gosh Ella has the best imagination! Have you thought about getting her to write a book? It would make for great reading! Especially with her ideas about teachers flying, and real unicorns!

Love the she like her first day at kindy – that will make you feel more relaxed for when she has to go to school.
All the best with the costume for Halloween.

    Cheers
    Lisa

    • Kel says:

Oh, now there’s an idea, Lisa. That would be one book and a half!! LOL!
Yes, pretty happy with the way the first day of pre-kindy has gone. She’s itching to go again now. We’re already counting down the sleeps!!! 🙂
