EVERY night this week, Li’l Holly has been playing with her food – also known as my boobs. She’s lost interest in breastfeeding, which means we’re nearing the end of what has been one of my great joys of the baby years.

I’ve said before how incredibly fortunate I’ve been that my four girls (bazookas and children) have made breastfeeding a pretty easy task. I also might add that it’s been an immense help in decreasing my waistline. Sadly, it looks like I’ll finally have to start exercising again.

There has been a slight issue with breastfeeding though, especially having done it for a combined 30 months. This is it – shrinking violets:

Seriously, Ella and Holly have sucked the life out of me. Well, my boobs at least.

On the win front, I can finally enjoy a wine with dinner again, get my tea-stained teeth whitened and slather anti-wrinkle cream into the deep ravines around my eyes. Vain? Yes!

Talking of winning, it’s that time of the week again. Get clicking and see what fabulous things you can win for you and your family.

The end of another stage Kel. Bitter sweet hey. Nice to have your body back but also a sure sign you are moving on from the baby stage. Enjoy that wine with dinner thou 🙂

    • Kel says:

Bittersweet indeed, Caz. I think it’s so much harder knowing it’s your last. I really have enjoyed breastfeeding, but that wine is looking good too! LOL! 🙂

  2. I can imagine this is so emotional. I whine endlessly about Maggie still feeding 4-6 times a night at almost 9 months but I know I will feel at a loss when she weans. I will miss it terribly. You have done a brilliant job! 30 months omg!

    • Kel says:

Ooh, probably should have explained 30 months for two kids! Ella was 14 months and Holly is now 16 months.
But you’re right, it is pretty emotional. I went through the same thing with the constant night feeds too, Sarah. Actually, Holly still wakes occassionally and night feeding is the only thing that will get her back to sleep. I won’t miss that bit though!!! Bring on the sleep! 🙂

  3. Jess Newman says:

Oh I know this, except I had not a huge amount to start off with!

Weirdly enough though, coming up to a year after weaning, and not being pregnant again, my boobs almost seem to be geting bigger!
    At least I think so.
    Or hope so.
It may be wishful thinking 🙂

    • Kel says:

LOL! Oh Jess, I’m praying you’re right. Even just a bit more “oomph” would be good, rather than these sagging bean bags! 🙂

  4. Oh wow, so gorgeous to read a happy & easy breastfeeding story. My first experience was of a mid wife saying “big boobs & a big mouth, she knows what to do” & thanks to my first born with perfect attachment from the first moment, i never suffered even a red nipple, just weight loss via my boobs. Fed her for 18 months, even though i worked, i expressed. Then i had twins, fed them in the football position under my arms, heads together, also 18 months (without expressing, yay) then my darling boy, finally my body knew how much milk to produce & i didn’t leak everywhere, fed him for 2 years & yes, when it’s your last baby, it’s sad. None of mine wanted to wean but at that later age, they all agreed happily (i’d walk the dog & my husband would give them milk in a cup, it worked quickly) but i’d have been heart broken if they made the decision for me. We still joke my son (now 8) would still be breastfeeding now if he could!! He still presses my boobs for my attention if i’m busy, that stops me in my tracks i tell you!!
Good luck with your new independent young lady, love Posie

    • Kel says:

      Hehe!! How gorgeous!
Wow Posie. You’ve done so well with all your children. I think Ella would be the same as your last – she would still be breastfeeding at age 4 if she had the chance. She was very attached.
Over the last couple of days, since Holly weaned herself, she hasn’t woken up during the night either. Not sure if that’s just a coincidence. Enjoying a full night of sleep again. Oh, how I missed that!
It’s certainly been a bit of a rollercoaster week, that’s for sure. x
