We spent yesterday in the kitchen cooking. Well, I cooked. Ella licked. We were given all this glorious Be Natural cereal, which many of you know I’m already a fan of. Crunchy clusters… ahhhhh!

So, instead of telling you how far the drool is progressing down my chin as I eat another bowl, I thought we’d go all MasterChef on you instead and create something for snack time.

We wanted to create something like this:

Be Natural bars

Be Natural bars

So here’s our version of the Be Natural bars – the Homemade Breakfast Bars.

HOMEMADE BREAKFAST BARS

INGREDIENTS:

Be Natural cereal3 sachets (35g each) of Be Natural Pink Lady, Apple and Raspberry Porridge

4 ½ cups of Be Natural Manuka Honey and Spice Clusters with Flakes cereal

½ cup shredded coconut

125g butter

1/3 cup brown sugar

½ cup honey

METHOD:

Line a 26cm x 21cm baking tin with baking paper.

With a mortar and pestle, crush the cereal into smaller pieces. In a frypan, cook the porridge, cereal and coconut until light brown. It should take about 5-7 minutes on low to medium.

Be Natural being made into muesli bars

Meanwhile, melt the butter, brown sugar and honey in a pot until the sugar has dissolved. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes. When you drop a small bit of mixture into cold water, it should form a small ball. This is when you know it’s ready.

Combined all ingredients in a bowl and then transfer into the baking tin. Be sure to push down the ingredients tightly into the tin. Let it cool.

Be Natural

The girls were impatient to eat it, so we ended up putting it into the fridge for a little while. Then cut into squares.

  2. Casey says:

Oh Wow!!! As a self professed tightwad I tell everyone else in the house that they must eat the ‘budget’ cereal. Little do they know I purchase the Be Natural range but I hide it from everyone else in the house, otherwise they eat it all far too quickly and I am left with gag worthy cerealv (Ummm yes, the stuff I expect everyone else to eat! – I am looking at you here husband!!!) So maybe if I win I could share… And I just know my hubby would love me for it! But I would still feel the need to hide some. Just for me and my pregnant cravings!

  3. Rebekah says:

You couldn’t even try to guess the amount consumed by me.

My kids and hubby also like to chomp on it all day.
But for all this cereal, someone’s gotta pay!
At the moment pay we do and cut back on other stuff,
But even when we do buy heaps there’s never near enough!

So, pick me! Pick me! Pick me! I’d really REALLY love to win,
Be Natural is SUPER yum, chuck the others in the bin!

  7. Alicia Webster says:

I want to win because I am tired of being the bad mum who gives her kids Nutella on toast for breakfast. Jeez, why don’t I just set out a package of Tim Tams and be done with it ? I have three kids ages six, five, and four, and we live off of my husband’s student loans, and I am old (positively geriatric at the age of 43), and I am tired, and I don’t drive, and I have to walk the kids to and from school four times every day, and I have TONS of laundry, and we live in a tiny apartment, and what does any of this have to do with breakfast ??? Nothing, but I was kind of hoping for the pity vote. Did I mention that I was tired ?

  8. Chont says:

To make my mornings less manic with fussy kids who will be spoilt for choice. Plus to help my hip pocket.

  9. Elisha says:

I have 5 children ! NOT having to buy such an essential grocery item would save me bucketloads!!! YES PLEASE

We have tried many breakfast cereals as we have irritable bowel syndrome in this house and I am thrilled to advise that the Be Natural cereals that we have tried are brilliant and great for my families health. What a great prize to win – this family would devour it with pleasure, what a great way to take your medicine……

  14. Jules says:

My tummy spoke to me this morning. This is how it all went down:

“Yummy in my tummy. Yummy in my tummy”, mumbled my tummy.

“Sorry, what was that, I didn’t quite hear you”, I asked.

“Yummy in my tummy. Yummy in my tummy”, chanted my tummy loudly so I would indeed here it this time.

“Ohhhhhhhhhh, yes, ok, I get it, you’re hungry. Ok, here you go, here’s some BE NATURAL Four Pink Lady Apple, Flame Raisin, Almond & Pepita with a hint of spice”.

“Mmmmmmmmmmm, yummy in my tummy, taste’s so good”.

Let’s not disappoint the tummy now!

  15. Mel Phillips says:

Am a cereal addict!! Eat it anytime of the day (or night)!! Our household goes out of Kelloggs like it’s going out of fashion!!

During my pregnancy with my now 19 m.o. son, I went nuts for cereal, especially as a midnight snack! Maybe trying for our number two child soon, and am going to need some heavy-duty, good quality cereal supplies in stock!!!

  16. Sherry Pfeiffer says:

    Living with two growing boys,
    Who are absolute cereal fanatics,
Bowl & sppon ready to try something new,
Other than their boring old weetbix!

  17. kerry santillo says:

I would love to win, five teenagers with healthy appetites. This could save a daily trip to the supermarket, fights about who finished the last box and them saying there is never enough variety!!!! thanks for a chance x

  18. Michelle V says:

I would love to win this because last night I attended the Melbourne Food And Wine Show with a friend, and we came across the Be Natural stand. The staff member at the stand convinced us (after much persuasion!) to purchase some of the Be Natural range. I purchased the bars and a box of cereal. I ate one of the bars on the drive home, and it was love at first taste. This morning I tried the cereal, and I couldn’t believe how wonderful it tastes. Be Natural is the only cereal I will buy from this moment on. I promise that I will take very good care of these if they are sent to my home! 🙂

  19. Wilma says:

    On the pot,
    Reading alot,
    Because you will not drop.
    Still sitting here,
    Waiting to hear,
    That splash and plop.
    A years supply of cereal?
Surely that’ll nudge my waste material.
    And it’ll easily sneak,
    Between my chubby cheeks.

  20. Di says:

So we can eat cereal whenever we like, not just at breakfast time! If it wasn’t so expensive we’d be eating it for lunches, snacks and whenever else it took our fancy, not just for brekky.

  21. DIANA says:

With the amount of cereal this household buys, we should have shares in many cereal companies!! This would be a nice thank you to us for always eating it!

  22. Mary Preston says:

Cereal is ALWAYS on the shopping list. How wonderful to leave it off for an entire year knowing that the pantry is stocked with nutritious and healthy Be Natural & Kellogg cereals.

I’m running recipes through my head at this very minute.

  23. tamra childers says:

In my house my husband and I eat ceral for snacks as well as breakfast. So we go through a lot of ceral, and even more now that my son is nearlly two. It seems he is rather fussy and what eats one day he wont eat the next. Hence we have about 10 differnt boxes of ceral in the house at anyone time, so we can go through the list to see what he feels like on that day. It’s kind of expensive but what can you do.

  24. Wendy S says:

Help me! I live with 5 cereal killers!

  25. Kim maxwell says:

I would love to win because I could eat well and save money at the same time, and with luck could get hhe kids eating all these healthy things too!

  26. my kids have just stasted getting in to all the fiber stuff my 10 tr ild love the grains & brecky bars wow what amoney saving comp love it

  27. Michelle S says:

We are ‘cereal’ offenders of having an empty fridge and pantry! However if we have cereal in the house we can survive! We have been known to eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and midnight feast! Sometimes it is eaten with milk, other times it is eaten fresh from the pack! We love it! A year’s supply would save us from having to visit a supermarket or shop at all!

  28. Melinda says:

I really want to win this for my friend who has a cereal obbession. This friend has 12 boxes on the go at once and eats it not only in the morning, but night time also. When others are sitting for some late night chips or choclates, she will go for one of her desired packets of cereal. She is crazy, even at the movies she will take a plastic bag with cereal in it.

  29. Jessica Maloney says:

As a Roller Derby girl, I have to be up at 4am 3 times a week for skating training and am constantly forgetting to eat brekkie.

  30. Simone says:

On a tight budget the only cereals we eat are wheat bix and home brand oats. It’s got so bad that my 11yo daughter is refusing to eat breakfast 🙁 I can’t tell you the difference this prize would make to our mornings!!!

  31. Rhi says:

Cereal makes part of our baking ingredients, so having cereal I can use and eat would save my hip pocket!

  32. nellbe says:

Ah because my boys love Kellogg’s Sultana Buds and Nutrigrain, pretty sure they would eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner if I let them. Hubby also loves Be Natural cereals …and Special K… and Just Right …

  33. Pamela Bramley says:

I’ve just been diagnosed with diabetes so I can only eat whole, unprocessed foods. So being supplied with a truckload of goodness would save me alot of reading ingredients on boxes for some time to come!

  34. Ann-Marie says:

I would love to win because as soon as Miss 8 is home from school she stands and looks in the cupboard and says ‘Mum, whats to eat, I’m hungry and I can’t find a thing I like in here’
I could say ‘well take your pick’. I can give her some dry cereal for snacks or Museli bars or anything she has her little eye on.

  35. Candice Ecclestone says:

Wow a years supply of Be Natural and Kelloggs products would….well quite simply…..Be Amazing!!
We are huge cereal eaters in this house with my boys eating a box of Sultana Bran Buds and Porridge every week. I love my Just Right and the Be Natural cereals and each week our trolley always has at least 2 boxes of cereal in.
Shhhh Im also a bit of a “Crunchy Nut”. When I was preganat this was what I craved, even at 2am.
There is one thing that my boys never say ‘No’ to eating and that is cereal….which is why we dont just eat it at breakfast! We snack on dry cereals too and use them in baking.

  36. Debz says:

I live in the tropics, and have a balcony that begs me to join it for brekky. A regular supply of cereal means we’ve got a year-long date!

  37. Cate says:

To eat HEALTHY and for free,
This giveaway is made for me!
Something for my little one’s tum,
And even something for his Mum.
No need for a shopping trip,
    No excuse to breakfast skip.
I am sure there will be no crumbs-not one,
Perfect for eating on the run!

  38. For one who is challenged in the kitchen arena, you can never go wrong with cereal.

Cereal never fails, be it basic in a bowl or turned into baked goods.

This could save my reputation for a whole year…and turn me into a food blogger!!! Ok, that might be stretching things a little.

  39. Judy says:

    It’s Cheap and Easy.
    It’s satisfying,
    It’s a healthy option and
It’s comforting. I have so many childhood memories of a cereal called Banana wackies. With bits of banana in it. Back in the sixties.
I would love to have the chance to win something a little more in this century.

There’s an ongoing Serial in my life and it’s the young Serial offenders who are doing some Serial whining about which is the best Cereal… Be Natural and Kelloggs are the only Cereals that can turn Serial frowns upside-down and stop Mummy from starring in a Serial called “The Serial about the best Cereal for a household of Serial Cereal complainers”

  43. Christine Barter says:

Different cereal for everyone if they choose, for breakfast, afternoon teas and also dessert. Be Natural is a wonderful healthy product for all the family.

  48. Seana Smith says:

We’d love to munch our way through this lot because we’re busy as bees, and we love to be natural… and I must thank Kellogs as their All-Bran has stood me in good stead for almost all of my 48 years and STILL tastes as good as when my mum used to pour it into the bowl for me!

It’s Kelloggs for breakfast every morning,

With something as simple & nutritious like this for brekky …
Tired mums like me are free to hover a little longer over their coffee.
    Win! Win!

  53. Charlotte says:

In our house cereal is devoured by the boxful and it’s rare for me or my mum to get a look in with any of the cereals we buy. At least with a year’s supply, we have a chance of a bowl or too before the men of the house eat it all!

  54. Karlene says:

Hubby has taught master four that the only cereals worth eating are Coco Pops and Crunchy Nuts. I’d like to (read *need to*) expand his breakfast options.

  55. sue petrie says:

Would love a year supply because the more i eat proper cereal the more i go to the little throne room

  56. Amy says:

We are a family that have been spoilt with junk. And there is nothing special about ‘special K’. Perhaps we have been wrong …?

But…my young son is a fussy boy –

  69. kelly jones says:

Not only is there a great variety here for the whole family to enjoy, but just think of what we could buy with the savings from buying cereal for a whole year. There would be the challenge, put the equivalent of our cereal spend in a jar and buy the family a treat at the end of the 12 months. Something delicious and fun for everyone to join in with

  70. Fi says:

My three kids are cereal-holics! They have cereal for breakfast, cereal bars and fruit for snack, cereal after school and cereal for supper. I shouldn’t complain as it’s all good healthy cereal but think of all the milk I buy too! Winning would save me carrying so much cereal from the shops!
