girls in box

A few days ago, just as the girls were about to get into the bath, Ella popped herself up on the toilet to do a whizzer. Li’l Holly decided she wanted to know what the fuss was all about with this weeing thing and so stuck her head in the toilet, behind Ella, to take a look.

Midway through Ella’s twinkling, Holly decides to talk about the wonderment of wee while her dummy is in her mouth. Which is not a good idea when your head is over a toilet bowl. As expected, she drops her dummy… and all hell breaks loose.

Ella panics and jumps off the toilet. Mid wee. The wee, however, doesn’t stop. I try to coax her back onto the toilet, with no luck. I reach for t-shirts, trousers, dresses and towels – anything – to stick under her.

From the corner of my eye, I then notice Holly is reaching into the toilet for “dum dum, Mum. My dum dum’’. Noooooo. I take a deep breath, plunge my hand into the deep dark depths of the toilet bowl and retrieve the little sucker.

Saved.

There is silence for a good 60 seconds.

Seriously, this never happened pre-kids.

Have you had to retrieve dummy’s from wee-filled toilet bowls before? Or worse?

Oh me oh my – the things we do as mummas 🙂 No – our toilet never got to eat a dummy – but it did eat our toilet roll holder. To this day I haven’t replaced it. Still waiting to renovate the bathroom!!

LOL! Thankfully, the girls have no idea how to get the toilet roll holder off, so praying ours stays put! Hopefully you’re not waiting too much longer, Caz! 😉

Ohhh no hope the slippery little sucker went into quarantine lock down.Yukkk

I nearly did my own inappropriate wee laughing at that post, Kell. Whist not exactly this scenario I’ll bet we have ALL found ourselves in an awkward situation or two while parenting the little tykes!

I must say ‘doing a whizzer’ is a new one for me… x

    • Kel says:

Oh Bron, the “whizzer” has been part of my vocabulary now since about Grade 7! Sometimes I forget that no one else has heard the word – and probably has no idea what I’m talking about! LOL!
And yes, I’m quite sure every parent has had “their moment” of awkwardness. Thankfully this one was private! I might not be so lucky next time. 🙂

Believe it or not, that was how we got rid of the dummy forever! My daughter was too little to realise that I could have purchased another one, but was horrified that it had fallen into the toilet (it was one stage worse than wee, by the way).

    • Kel says:

Oh wow, now there’s an idea, Gael. Holly is nearly two years old, so we’re looking to get rid of it very soon. We might have to hang out in the toilet a bit and see where it leads! Hehe! 🙂
