Last week was Ella’s fifth birthday party, which had a Wizard of Oz theme. She had a bit of an obsession with the book and movie for a while.

The kids at the party were all so incredibly well behaved. And I had to laugh, because every time we asked a question, they all raised their hands and when someone did something well, they all applauded. Credit goes to their teacher for that one.

I have so many blog posts to come:

How to make the piñata

Wizard of Oz birthday cake

Lessons on making a Wizard of Oz house with rainbow insides

Wizard of Oz take home party boxes

Yellow Brick Road take-home boxes

Face painting

Party food ideas and Wizard of Oz party entertainment

The thing is, I’m still recovering. I can confidently say it will be another five years until Ella’s next birthday party. Phew!

So stay tuned for the posts to come!

Do you have a theme for birthday parties? What themes have you gone with before?

OK, onto the important stuff now – how to win yourself some gifts for Christmas.

  1. I had an Alice in Wonderland themed 9 and a half birthday party 🙂 We made it 9 and a half because my birthday is 29 December and I was sick of always holding my party in the last week of school 🙂

My sister had a Little Mermaid party 🙂

  2. What a great job! I tend to go with books for the theme. We’ve had The Hungry Caterpillar and The Cat in the Hat. Lots of fun.

I would love to do a Cat in the Hat party, Laney. Ella is just mad for all the Dr Seuss books at the moment. Maybe just a small family cake next year…. 🙂

  3. That looks amazing! Oh that cake – I want some 🙂

    • Kel says:

Hehe! Thanks Marissa! I’ve been a bit strategic with the photography of the outside of the cake because it was terribly wonky! I’m blaming the cyclone Dorothy’s house got caught up in! 😉

  4. That cake is just so awesome. I bet everyone loved it 🙂

  5. The cake alone is impressive!

  6. Wow Kellie, you did such an amazing job – I love the theme too – very unique!! I am preparing for Mr B’s first birthday party in December, a little sad as the year has gone way too quickly x

    • Kel says:

I loved the girls’ first birthday parties, Allison. They’re as much a celebration for the child as they are for the parent getting through that first year.
I went all out with the cakes for Ella and Holly’s first. Which means it’s been hard to live up to ever since. LOL! 🙂

  7. Lisa wood says:

Looks like such a great birthday party! Congratulations on surviving your first of many 🙂
Happy Birthday Ella – such a pretty face painting.

  8. I love to have an afternoon tea party, blanket on the grass, fave cakes and finger food, tea cups with whatever they want in them, don’t forget the fairy bread…
Would love to WIN something from your giveaway, count me in please, <3 🙂
