OK, THIS may not be a lesson just for wives. In fact I think the main culprits of this disturbing trend are probably not in steady, long-term relationships, but it is an important lesson to be noted nonetheless. Although one of the recent culprits I witnessed was indeed pushing their pram up the street when I saw them commit this heinous crime.
“What is the crime?’’ I hear you shout. Well, when did it become OK to use your bra to hold you mobile phone?
Seriously, I am not joking, in the past week I have seen about 10 women at different times poke their mobile phone into their bra instead of their pocket. It’s a growing phenomenon. I wasn’t even aware Target sold bras with built-in mobile phone holders these days (and if they aren’t, then on the evidence, maybe they should start).
Ladies, while it may be convenient, it looks downright ordinary and if you think otherwise we blokes might just start sticking our Nokia’s down the front of our Bonds hipsters … um, though I’m not sure I’d then want to stick the phone to my ear without giving it a good wipe down first.
Now, I can hear you all thinking “well, what are you doing looking when women do this?’’. Well sorry, but frankly it’s hard not too. It’s especially disconcerting when standing, waiting for service at a shop beside a lady when her boobs start ringing to the tune of Lady Gaga’s latest single.
Please, remember boobs are for bras and mobile phones are best kept in pockets or those expensive things designed for carrying stuff you girls love so much – yep, handbags.

Rewinding with And Then There Were Four.
Lol – really. I haven’t seen this yet – maybe it hasn’t reached country victoria yet?? Wouldn’t be good if you were breast feeding!!
If it has reached Tasmania surely country Victoria is next. Hopefully it’ll be a phase _ like happy pants. 🙂
I have also seen this. Maybe it’s the replacement for the old ‘Winnie blues’ which were tucked under singlet straps……
Whew. Kel was starting to think I was imagining it.
Whatever it is Trace it’s about as attractive as the “Winnie Blues”.
Actually makes me wonder what’s next? Mobile phone on one side, purse on the other?
Oops! I’m a culprit!
Although, I only ever do it when going for a run, because my running pants don’t have a pocket & the armband I bought on eBay apparently was designed for someone with cannons, not tiny little guns like mine!
But I wouldn’t do it when out and about at the shops or anything!! That’s what my handbag is for!!
I don’t think yours counts as a felony Fi, maybe only a misdemeanour! LOL
LOL… I have seen a few lurking around in WA.
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope it doesn’t go global.
Lol! That’s hilarious! I’ll have to admit then, that I’ve been using my baby bump as a hands free phone holder – I can type and talk!
Nothing wrong with that Ash. In fact I’ve been working on _ for a while now _ getting the perfect beer belly to safely rest a stubbie on.
Not quite there yet but practice makes perfect!
I’m so guilty of this. Only because I don’t have clothes with pockets (really. Not any) and I only do it when I am popping out and don’t need my WHOLE bag, but I totally get where you’re coming from.
LOL Becky.
Maybe it’s male envy!
Oops! I did the phone in the bra thing the other day. Needed my phone but had no pockets, and my hands were full!
Three hail Marys for you, Missy Boo! 🙂
Very cute!!!
🙂
I’d be worried about it causing breast cancer? Then again I’m a worry wort. Once again a brilliant post.
Glad you liked it
Well here I am, come arrest me..I think the bra is so very handy at all times..lol you just made me relise my bra IS my handbag. LOL.because us mums are very good multi-tasking, we dont always need our hand bag, but are sure to need our two hands, a phone,a tissue/hankey and a $5/10 note comes in handy many times all of which I carry in my bra most days. I think this is a great post and now think I will blog it myself ..hope you dont mind…now I want to know something from you, since when is a nice cold beer a tool? I would not be wrong in saying in most aussie sheds you will find a fridge full of these, will I not? cheers!!
Lol Penny. Go right ahead. I;m amazed at what you girls can fit in there.
As for the beer, it might not be a tool but it is a vital lubricant to many a successful (or unscucessful) jobs.
Oops. Didn’t mean for that to sound as creepy as it did. LOL
not creepy..and just so you know if my bra could hold and keep a nice cold beer for the end of my day..it would be in there too..lol
Ew. Yuck. Had no idea that women did this. (Although I am a woman. With a mobile phone. And a bra. But, you know, I also have a handbag, or at the very least, pockets in my jeans). Oh well, now I know!!!
Visiting from the Rewind!
Hey Amanda,
I have since noted, in Tasmania at least, it seems to be a summer phenomenon.
Maybe the thought of sticking a cold, icy phone where it shouldn’t go isn’t quite as appealing?
Hmmm As a young man I remember what we called ringing the boobaphone, but that was something different.
Not even gonna ask ………… 🙂
hilarious. maybe they are the grown-up version of the nighclub chicks who carried their credit card and house key in their bra for a big night out?! visiting from the rewind 😉
Just how much stuff can you fit in those things?
Thanks Sascedar
I’ve never come across this. A bad case of over-accesorising? I don’t think my phone would fit in my bra, it’s already full of other, er … stuff.
LOL Karen
Oh dear, I am so guilty. I often pop my iphone down there, quitae high, held with the bra strap. But usually when at home. Thing is I am not keen on earphones but love listening to podcasts as I dot about the house doing this and that. Ideas?
Think it is a lot more applicable in the home environment Seana 🙂
Hilarious! I honestly can’t say that I have seen this trend, but I’m definitely going to be more alert to “ringing boobs,” now that I’ve read your post. Visiting from the Rewind.
Thanks Julia. I’m hoping my post may have stemmed the tide LOL
I can’t say I have seen this either! I think Fi was very brave to admit to doing this! Thanks for the giggle and thanks for Rewinding this Weekend. You are first cab off the rank again! x
Glad you liked it.
My teenage stepdaughters do this! And no, I don’t understand either.
Hopefully they grow out of it Tenille 🙂
I have never seen this myself but I can understand that it might be convenient if you don’t have a pocket handy. Personally, I just use my husband to carry my bits and pieces around if he’s available (although he’s never very impressed when I do this, don’t know why…)
Oh dear!
Rewinding the weekend. I haven’t noticed this one, but I’ll feel like a David Bellamy in the field if I observe a bra-parked phone now. Thanks for the smile!
Give it time Lorraine 🙂
Hahaha, I’ve seen this too and thought it a bit weird. And uncomfortable – most phones are a bit bulky for my little ones to cope with. It’s always the pocket or bag for mine.
LOL Emma. Should they manufacture them with a proviso: This bra can carry an iPhone and this one can carry a Nokia 2010.
LOL Love it! I’ve only seen this in my younger years in the days of drinking and dancing. I was always worried it would just fall through my bra onto the floor, so never did it! It’s not a good look!
No Daisy. Not good at all.
hahaha that’s terrible. sometimes when i don’t take a bag with me i put two cards and my cellphone in my boots. but never my bra… ! found you from the rewind, thanks for putting a smile on my face 🙂
Pleasure Gorgi 🙂 Boots are far more acceptable.
Well, I’ve never seen this – but shall be on the alert! I do remember the days when teachers would pop their hanky under their bra strap.
Mum used to do the same thing Jennifer. Only difference is a hanky doesn’t vibrate.
I havent seen this either but it could catch on atleast id be able to find it and answer before it rang out for once instead of digging and digging through my handbag and grabbing it just as it stops ringing .
Did a double take when I saw my teenage daughter storing her phone in her bra (armpit side). I wear al enveloping supportive garments that are full of other stuff so can’t imagine using my bra as a handbag alternative! Just a thought though…if I wore a lower cut bra and my stored phone was on vibrate imagine the wobbly wave that would cross my chest from one side to the other kind of like a booby tsumani 🙂
[…] of you may remember the infamous Bras are for Boobs post on this site where I revealed the horrifying emerging trend of women using their mammary cradles as […]
After being around breastfeeding, I think of boobs as drinking vessels nowadays – they lose a bit of their appeal when you go to sleep to the hum of a breast pump. Great post!
Omg Kel, I just read this and laughed my head off. Did you see this youtube video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47EDdvSqn7Y
Oh wow, Soni. That is just wrong, wrong, wrong! The look of pain on that guy’s face when she grabs for the phone! And it’s not just a quick look, but a “Oh, texting back to my friend Sally is far more important than this wedding.” Wowsers! Good luck to that poor guy! 😉
Thanks for sharing that. That’s just gold!
