Ella would much rather the strawberries from the garden than the beetroot

This week I’m grateful for:

  • Social media becoming my new notetaker. When hubby arrived home from his meeting on Thursday night, he asked how three-year-old Ella had enjoyed her homegrown beetroot for dinner. My response: “oh yeah, I tweeted it so I’d remember it’’. Hubby started laughing at me and then said: “that’s funny, I’m going to Facebook that’’. And just incase you were wondering what Ella’s response was to the beautifully cooked beetroot, she said: “that’s truly yucky’’.
  • Homemade birthday cards. Ella had an absolute ball making birthday cards today for her Nan O’Brien, cousin Lisa and Uncle Rick. Uncle Rick is going to be so excited when he gets his Princess card.
  • The Wonder Weeks book. While it’s been helping me cope when Baby Holly turns feral (also known as developmental leaps), by blogging about it I’ve somehow convinced a whole heap of women to buy the book (unintentionally). Should have had an affiliate link on the blog. Drats!!

So, what are you grateful for this week?

I’m joining with Maxabella Loves to share what I’m grateful for.

    Just popping over from Maxabella.
I do love social media too. I actually tend to keep up with current affairs that way, without having to watch depressing news programs and overhyped rubbish. I can just get the facts and only click on the info if I want to.

Oh, and it’s also good for remembering things like how beetroot tastes 😉

    • Kel says:

I must admit, I’m a bit the same Karen. I just can’t have the TV news on with little people around in fear of what they might see. Twitter is great for keeping up to date with news, without being swamped! 🙂

  2. Loving the idea of using Twitter as a note-taker. For me, it’s mostly a time-suck, but if I could use to help sort my To Do list… well, now, that’s a whole different story.

  3. Kymmie says:

Oh, your poppet is just so cute! I think she’s totally quoteable. And I love how you twittered it, and your husband then facebooked it! You guys are adorable!
    xx

    • Kel says:

LOL! Thanks, Kymmie. Yes, we’re rather sad cases, aren’t we? Addicted to social media.
At least we’re still talking to each other IRL and not through our social media oulets… yet!! 🙂

  4. Margaret says:

Lucky Uncle Rick, bet he keeps it for ages, would love to see his reaction when he gets it.

  5. Lauren says:

home made birthday cards are the best! and what a little cutie of a strawberry eater you have there! 🙂 happy weekend

    • Kel says:

Thanks, Lauren. Yes, she’s mad for craft, so making birthday cards was the highlight of the day. Although, I think birthday cake tomorrow at Nan’s will be hard to beat! 🙂

  6. Aahaaa! i never thought of twitter as being so handy, I just dug out my little pink debden diary out of the bowels of my handbag and decided i should write down all those important dates in my head..

    • Kel says:

Yes, my notepad and diary are looking a little worse for wear at the moment! Too many ideas and not enough pages!! LOL! 🙂

  7. I am also grateful for Twitter! And my great friends, a sunny day and the coffee I’m about to make 🙂

  8. Wanderlust says:

I don’t understand why kids don’t like beetroot, it’s so sweet! Mind won’t eat it either. I do like finding the silver lining to whiling the hours away on various social media sites!

    • Kel says:

LOL! Yes, any excuse to use Facebook and Twitter really!
Since the first attempt at eating beetroot, we’ve roasted some and put on a vegie pizza and suddenly it’s now her new favourite food! I can’t keep up…. 🙂

  9. I accredit social media for not accruing post natal depression, especially with my second daughter who was a screamer. It allowed me to still feel a part of a community, even though I was stuck at home for the majority of time post bubs. It unwittingly does wonders I think 🙂

    • Kel says:

Have to agree, Romina. I’m a bit of a homebody anyway, but it’s been nice to be able to ask a parenting (or non parenting) question and get an instant response from an online friend. Having only been on Twitter for a couple of months, the support from the other mums has been wonderful. It’s certainly helped keep me sane!

  10. Maxabella says:

twitter as Notebook? That’s a new one!! x

  11. lmao about the truly yucky beetroot! DH loves baked beetroot but I’d be happy to give it a miss.
