    WIN: Aussie Giveaway Linkup #35

THE Bloke in The Shed and I had a rare “date’’ during the week. We’re all picking ourselves up off the floor after making that happen. Anyway, we headed to Devonport’s Cmax Cinemas and saw the Australian movie A Few Best Men, starring the delicious Xavier Samuel.

Seriously, if you’re after a bit of silliness, with a dash of romance, then this is well worth seeing. Fabulous cast, stunning cinematography, extremely predictable script, but utterly hilarious.

Although, still getting over the shock of seeing Olivia Newton-John snort coke. I always wondered what become of her after she put on that black leather suit in Grease. Pfft, what a wasted talented.

Before you delve in to this week’s giveaways, take a peek at the movie here.

What movie have you watched lately?

  • Australia Day Eve eParty: Click here to join in

Join us as Three Li’l Princesses hosts an Australia Day Eve eParty in the palace tonight from 8pm. Yes, the ABC1 Australia Celebrates Live concert doesn’t start until 8.30pm, but we’ve got the little matter of who’s been announced Australian of the Year to discuss and whether or not they were worthy. That’s announced at 6.30pm, by the way.

The eParty is a chance for mums (and dads) to throw on a flanny, doll up with a bit of zinc cream and slip on some thongs (the feet variety – although, hey, I’m not fussy) as we watch  INXS, Katie Noonan, Spiderbait, Sneaky Sound System and the Potbelleez on ABC1’s Australia Celebrates Live Concert.

The night will involve an Australia Day giveaway, silly quizzes, daggy videos and some rather ridiculous photos, courtesy of The Bloke in The Shed (in other words, don’t blame me for those ones!).

Simply click on the link below tonight and start chatting. Feel free to come and go as you please. We’re all mums, so we understand that getting children to bed comes first. We’ll pull up stumps about 9.30pm, when the concert finishes.

If you have an iPhone you can also download a free app to use with the blog at the iPhone app store or on www.coveritlive.com

    WIN: Aussie Giveaway Linkup #31

Aussie Giveaway LinkupSome things in life are worth bottling, like:

    • Hearing your four-year-old daughter announce: “My beautiful dress is all ruined’’ while throwing her hands in the air. I swore it was a line Princess Ella was taking straight from one of her fairytale books, complete with over-the-top melodramatics. But, alas, she’d merely spilt a bit of jam on her Dora dress. A dress that I wouldn’t categorise as “beautiful’’.
    • Then having a similar reaction when I hit the “update blog theme’’ on this site on Friday night. “My beautiful blog is all ruined’’. Like mother, like daughter. Anyway, with a lot of tweaking and not much sleep, we got it back to some sort of order. Really though, this is all about as important as Kerri-Anne leaving Nine to tackle Seven’s Dancing With The Stars. (PS. If you have problems viewing any of the site, please let me know).
    • Seeing the little ticker on the free downloadable My Tasmanian Backyard 2012 Calendar continue to click over.  Wow, you people must be desperate for a calendar or either too stingy to pay for a good one.
    • Guest posting on Woogsworld yesterday. Enough said, really.
    • Getting that winning feeling. Yep, I’m feeling lucky this week – bring on the giveaways. *rubs hands greedily, then turns to see if anyone is watching*

What moment was worth bottling for you this week?

  • WIN: It’s giveaway time

    WIN: It’s giveaway time

OUR favourite meal of the day in the O’Brien household is breakfast – and it’s not always necessarily confined to mornings.

It’s 8.30pm at night as I’m writing this, curled up on the couch with the laptop and a bowl of Pink Lady Apple and Flame Raisin cereal (RRP $4.99), courtesy of the good people at Be Natural. I could easily sum it up by saying just “scrumptious’’ as milk dribbles down my chin, but I’m guessing you want a better description.

Coming from the Apple Isle, I’m taken with not only pieces of “real’’ pink lady apples, but also granny smiths. Then throw in extra flavour from raisins, plus – the clincher for a good cereal – crunch from five wholegrain flakes, linseed, pepita and amaranth clusters and, as I said, “scrumptious’’.

Forget needing artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.

Despite being the middle of summer, the Vanilla and Almond Porridge (RRP: $4.99) that came with it isn’t going to waste either. Princess Ella loves her porridge. Offer her kiddie-treat cereal and she’ll turn her nose up to them in favour of porridge. Yes, even in this sweltering heat. For her, receiving porridge with that yummy smell (vanilla) and some little nuts (almonds) was just like Christmas.

The new range also includes Multi-Grain Porridge; Five Whole Grains cereal; and Cashew, Almond, Hazelnut and Coconut cereal.

The folks at Be Natural are giving away one box of Pink Lady Apple and Flame Raising cereal and one box of Vanilla and Almond Porridge to each of the first 10 readers who leave a comment telling us your favourite way to eat cereal?

Hmm, I’d have to say with fresh fruit and yoghurt. How about you?

Don’t forget to subscribe to the site, “like’’ us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter so you don’t miss out on details for the next giveaway.
