Aussie Giveaway Linkup #89: Bad language edition

    Holly1

Using every method to shield the girls from bad language, it seems two-year-old Holly has been the first to crack an expletive.

When Julian was about to put two legs into the same leg hole of the night nappy – Holly’s legs, not his – Holly piped up with:

    “No, you silly doofus.’’

Followed by a rather cheeky grin, then 10 minutes of hysterics!

    Holly2

Do your kids have silly words they use? Or just mine?

  • Aussie Giveaway Linkup #88: Highlights of an average life

Aussie Giveaway Linkup #88: Highlights of an average life

camel dishI thought today I’d give you some highlights from our day:

    • This afternoon we bought a Dyson Animal handheld vacuum, because I was tired of dragging out the big vacuum to clean under the dining table after dinner each night. OK, I lie. I let it pile up and then vacuum it on Saturdays. If the doorbell rings on a Friday, I just refuse to let them in. Now, at least, you’ll be able to visit me any day you wish!
    • During our shopping expedition, we also purchased a new Philips iron. Well, Julian purchased a new Philips iron. I told him there was no point in me choosing it. I don’t use it enough! He posted something to that affect on Facebook and a host of men put their hands up to being “chief iron man” in their household too.
    • We went out for dinner at our favourite restaurant tonight and on the specials menu was braised camel scotch. I’m not really sure where in Tasmania you get camels (and whose responsible for feeding them scotch!), but I can tell you, I definitely wasn’t about to try it. I assume – like seagulls, snake and pigeon – it tastes like chicken? Julian went the beef scotch fillet instead. Wise choice.

What about you? Have you tried camel? Or something even more… interesting?

Aussie Giveaway Linkup #87: Adding to the controversy

    Essendon Football Club

For all you AFL lovers, here’s something we saw on a fence at Turners Beach here in Tassie today that’s sure to give you a giggle. Unless you’re an Essendon supporter.

    Go the Blues!

OK, let’s get into some much less controversial competitions.

Aussie Giveaway Linkup #86: Keith Urban edition

Aussie Giveaway LinkupLast week’s giveaway linky has barely closed and I’m already uploading this week’s. It all has to do with an early Valentine’s date I have with Mr Keith Urban. That’s right, me, Keithy, the Madden brothers – and no husband or children. How did I get so lucky? Mind you, I was reaching for Skype as soon as I arrived in Melbourne.

In other blogging news, this week I’m baaaack. Blogging resumes as normal from Wednesday. There are some posts ready on parenting, travel, lifestyle and food. We’ve also accepted some great guest posts and, as always, have plenty of giveaways in the pipeline.

  • A back to school confession: Giveaway closed

A back to school confession: Giveaway closed

I have a little confession to make. It’ll make me sound horribly lazy. Maybe even a bit cheap.

Holly has never had her own childcare name labels.

The poor child has spent a year in childcare under the guise of “Ella’’. Her clothes, her drink bottle and even her bag all have “Ella’’ printed on them. It’s become so bad the child carer admitted to often accidentally calling Holly by her sister’s name. Time to make a change, I think.

With some help from Stuck On You, Ella has scored the most beautiful school library bag as part of the Stuck on You Book Pack (discontinued, but you can get the new Kids Designer Book Labels instead).

Stuck On You AustraliaAnd, more importantly, Holly has a whole selection of labels to make sure she doesn’t start calling herself Ella.

Here’s what I went shopping for:

    Stuck On You Australia

Pack 0-5: These gorgeous packs include various name labels and a bag tag. What I love is how personalised you can make each item from colour, font and image selection. You can also match across different products. ($49.95)

    Stuck On You Smock

Art Smock: Made of 100% sturdy cotton canvas, the Art Smock for Kids is exactly what we need for messy painting. With cream curtains, lounge suites and carpet, I’ve been making the most of messy summer days. Waterproof smocks tend to be too light and, therefore, fly about in the wind – often ending up IN the paint. This one is thick enough to protect the clothing and includes long sleeves with elastic around the wrists. I adore the image (we selected the cute ballet slippers) on the handy front pocket. ($34.95)

    Stuck On You Apron

Apron: One of the girls’ favourite activities is cooking with mum. Ella has long had her own little apron, but it’s getting a tad small these days. So Holly gains the old apron and Ella a new one. Again, they’re made of 100% cotton canvas to protect clothing. Similar to the smock, we’ve included the ballet slippers on the cute front pocket. ($29.95)

It means we now have a happy household. And we’ve decided it might be nice for you to have a happy one too.

We’re giving away a $150 Stuck On You voucher, which will get you an awful lot from the Stuck On You Australia site. All you need to do is tell us a favourite school tip – whether for lunch boxes, covering school books or getting organised in the mornings. Let us know in the comments below.

Terms and conditions: The Stuck On You competition will be judged on creativity and originality. The competition opens Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 9pm AEST and closes on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 7.30pm AEST. One entry per person. Australian entries only. There is one prize winner. The winner will be notified via email and name published here. Entries remain the property of Three Li’l Princesses and may be republished.

If you would like to learn about more of our giveaways, make sure you sign up to our eNewsletters. You’ll also find more giveaways in the Aussie Giveaway Linkup.

DISCLAIMER: I received all the items mentioned above. I have not been paid to write this post. All opinions expressed are purely my own.

PS. Kellogg’s has partnered with Stuck on You to offer parents a $5 voucher when they purchase a range of Kellogg’s products.

  • WIN: Aussie Giveaway Linkup #85: Ferret fun

WIN: Aussie Giveaway Linkup #85: Ferret fun

    Sydney Harbour Bridge

What a whirlwind week we’ve had. Here are some of our wins:

    • We arrived home from Sydney, after having one of the best holidays we’ve had in a while. It was so incredibly relaxing – apart from the constant high-pitched squeals from The Bloke in The Shed. He’s decided we are NEVER moving to Sydney. He couldn’t cope with all the spiders.

    • While doing some ABC Reading Eggs together on the iPad, Julian tried to explain to Ella about Steve Jobs, the man who created all the “i’’ products. Ella replied with: “Yes, Dad. I know him.” Julian looked puzzled. “He’s on the front of Mum’s book’’. Of course she knows him!

    • Julian and Ella were up against Robyn Moore, the voice of Blinky Bill, in a celebrity ferret race today as part of Australia Day festivities. Well, the ferrets raced. Not Julian and Robyn. Robyn was disappointed with the lack of motivation from her ferret and broke into her Julia Gillard impersonation from ABC Radio comedy show How Green Was My Cactus to give it a pep talk. Meanwhile, 10 minutes earlier the race had been won by Julian and Ella’s ferret. This was their secret weapon (the rabbit. Not Ella looking distinctly like Heath Ledger playing The Joker):
