    REGULAR readers will already know I had my hair done on Saturday. After my hairdresser styled it, I kept that look for three LONG days. That’s right, I didn’t wash it. You can only imagine what’s been breeding in there.

    So yesterday morning I treated my very-much-in-need-of-a-wash hair to the new Keratinology by Sunsilk range. I was sent through the Advanced Reconstruction Range and the Sun-Kissed Colour Therapy Range.

    I started with the Keratinology by Sunsilk Sun-Kissed Colour Therapy, Colour Therapy Shampoo and Express Treatment Conditioner. It was followed by five minutes of the Keratinology by Sunsilk Sun-Kissed Colour Therapy Glossy Mask. And before you scold me about being in the shower too long (like someone else I know), it rained all day yesterday so there’s plenty of water in the dams. The entire day I felt like flicking my hair about as if I was in a shampoo commercial, because of how soft it felt.

    Last night, before bed, I popped on some of the Keratinology by Sunsilk Advanced Reconstruction Program Overnight Treatment. I must admit, I only tried it in the ends of my hair because I was concerned I’d wake up greasy. However, it couldn’t be further from the truth. My hair this morning is soft and silky and has no evidence of product residue. Last night it even melted into my skin as if I was putting on a gentle moisturiser. Although, I do wonder how it performs on more oily hair.

    Packaged in stylish light brown and black bottles, each product has a pretty, sweet smell, but is by no means overbearing. The collection uses advanced Keratin Micro Technology to address the common damage symptoms from repeated bleaching, colouring or ironing and to prolong that salon look. Obviously what I’m after, if I’m not washing my hair for three days! I’ll be interested now to see the effects long term.

    I have loved taking photos for as long as I can remember. My husband jokes the kids will remember me mostly for always having a camera in my hand. I have five beautiful children, who are over me taking photos – even my seven-month-old looks away. One of the happiest days of my life was the day I got my Canon DSLR. Happy to report my now 10-year-old daughter is following in her mother’s footsteps

    I’M GOING on a jet plane to Adelaide today. Or Radelaide, rather. Although, who am I to make jokes. I live in Tasmania. I think we shut our shops half an hour earlier than the city that always sleeps.

    So anyway, I thought I’d best ditch the holey jeans and trakky top for something a little more appropriate. Considering I don’t do fashion – I tend to buy classic items that I can still wear 10 years from now – this is the portrait of a non-fashionista trying hard to be a fashionista. Possibly trying too hard.

    OK, enough with the woof whistling. I have to thank Koolaman Designs, ECCO Shoes and Swish ECO Hair for helping me try and look chic.

    A beautiful Audrey pendant, hand stamped with Princess Ella and Li’l Holly’s names. The appeal is its daintiness. I’m not into chunky jewellery. Everything I wear is very petite – probably because I’m very petite. This one measures 2.8cm high by 2.8cm wide and can fit 34 characters on it. At $170, it’s something to buy that special person this Christmas. It has timeless appeal (big tick) and is something I’ll pass on to the girls one day. You can buy online.

    ECCO Shoes:

    I fell in love with ECCO back when it released its Autumn/Winter range. The Kalama 50mm is a cute ankle strap sandal made using genuine leather. In fact, its leather is of such high quality it sells to luxury designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Coach and Porsche. That’s classic enough for me. I love that the straps are adjustable, it has ample cushioning and there’s no such thing as “breaking in’’ required. At 150cm short, I probably require something with a little more heel though. But otherwise, I’m impressed. There are quite a few styles from the 2010 Spring/Summer range I have my eye on.

    If my hair feels good, then I feel good. So yesterday I indulged in a cut and a few extra foils to tie me over till my next appointment. This little ‘do I can thank my lovely hairdresser at Swish Eco Hair in Devonport, Tasmania for. And we probably should give a little shoutout to her ghd straightener for that smooth, shiny finish. Swish have a Facebook group.

    THIS week I’m grateful for:

    • Marrying Daddy: Princess Ella was particularly upset on Wednesday, because she “wanted to marry her daddy’’. “I don’t want to marry anyone else,’’ she said, with real tears streaming down her cheeks. Over the past few months she’s been keen on marrying the boy she goes to childcare with. The reality of being locked into a loveless marriage for the rest of her life had obviously sunk in. I tried to explain that we don’t marry our daddies (no, Tassie jokes, OK!) and that it would be a long time before she’d have to worry about that anyway. After more tears and more “but I just want to marry Daddy. Please?’’, I’m grateful The Bloke in The Shed stepped in and agreed to marry her. Ah, to be that innocent again.
    • Parenting Line: I didn’t post earlier today. Did you notice? You see, there was a bit of an incident last night that I have been scolding myself over. Li’l Holly was in her cot, waving her dummy at me, while I tried to get her white noise CD playing. I couldn’t get it to work with my toe, like usual. The next thing: THUD. Then loud, piercing screams. When I turned around, to my horror, she’d fallen out of her cot and hit the floor hard. The rest of my night was spent having to wake her regularly to check she was OK. I’m ever so grateful she is and that the Parenting Line was there to reassure me. However, I’m also upset with myself that I would do something so stupid as to leave the cot side down and turn my back. Just when you think you’ve done an incredible job of keeping your children safe, a split second can change everything. There’s (some) comfort in knowing I’m not alone. But still…
    • B1 and B2: In happier news, thanks to the Bananas in Pyjamas, there’s been much hilarity in our house this week. Out of the blue the other night, Ella asks: “Do you know what I’m thinking, B1?’’. I responded with: “No, I don’t , darling’’ and was promptly told that wasn’t the right answer. I tried again. “Yes, I think I do, B2’’. It’s at this point we have to try and see if we’re thinking the same thing. The combinations have been absolutely ridiculous. Apart from the time we were both thinking about chocolate.

    What happened when I did the vacuum cleaning

    I know. What a bizarre title for a post. But you will be amazed by this story. Seriously. Forget Kim Kardashian, this will be your water cooler topic for the day. I’m still totally in shock myself.

    You see, after writing about The Bloke in The Shed’s new Dyson and my excitement at the thought of him using it, I got sick of the wait and decided to just use the darn thing myself. The girls hate loud noises, so vacuuming tends to never happen. That’s my excuse, anyway. However, when my Mum came around yesterday, I thought it might be a good opportunity to get the three living areas treated with the Dyson, at least.

    This was the end result for its first outing.

    What on earth have we been living in all this time? Kind of says something about the quality of our last vacuum. I’m ever so thankful for our super sucking Dyson.

    I can remember as a little girl of four or five pulling one of our kitchen stools over to the freezer, climbing up and reaching for my mum and dad’s old Kodak 126 film camera and being in complete awe. This was the start of my fascination with photography.

    I photographed my first wedding at 17 and in 2008 started my full-time photography business Right Image Photography. We now have a five-member team. I think I am the luckiest person. The photo is taken in my studio with my two girls, Shayla and Tarlia.
