Two girls, touching nose

Best friends and sisters

LONG-time readers may remember the Happiness Project I took part in, courtesy of Naomi from Seven Cherubs. She’s now started another project, this time titled Cherish Your Cherubs. It will run over six weeks with a different weekly task – record, remember, interview, praise, write and affection.

The assignment for this week was to Record what your cherubs are like right now. Naomi posed some questions to think about before writing, but I thought I’d just answer those questions directly.

Here they are:

Ella, nearly four years old (just ask her), intelligent, funny and a giggle pot. She possesses great empathy and love towards others.

  1. Her interests: singing, dancing and talking… lots of it!
  2. What she likes: She is obsessed with ABC Reading Eggs, which is an online tool to help children from 4-7 years read. She was flying through it, until our free subscription ran out. Looks like I’ll be subscribing!
  3. What she dislikes: Baked beans.
  4. Favourite food: Steak. Yes, expensive taste.
  5. Favourite game to play: Snap, which is actually Fish. I taught her Snap, then called it Fish, now she refuses to accept it’s not called Snap.
  6. Favourite saying: Other than “I’m huuuungry’’, she ends nearly every sentence with “OK?’’ (said with a slight drawl) For eg, “I need something to eat, OK?’’, “I need to go to the toilet, OK?’’
  7. Favourite song: Justine Clarke’s I Love To Sing and Play School’s Put Your Finger On Your Finger On Your Finger – just that particular verse… over and over again.
  8. Favourite television show: Despite hearing quite a bit of “to your stations, Octonauts’’, I am rather happy to say it’s still ol’ favourite, Play School.
  9. Favourite book: This changes too frequently, mainly because we go to the library most Saturdays. Today it would be Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy.
  10. Favourite friend: Definitely her baby sister. She loves her like she loves no other. As far as non-related friends, she has a bestie at school (aka child care) who she keeps inviting to come for a sleepover. When I ask where she’d sleep, she replies: “my bean bag’’.

babyHolly, 10 months old, happy, easy going and pretty adept at meeting the physical milestones early. Loves to give kisses.

  1. Her interests: Dancing and singing. Can you see a theme here? Already, she rocks it out when music plays and starts making a “ahhhh’’ noise.
  2. What she likes: Boobie juice and the sight of mum, dad or her sister first thing after waking up.
  3. What she dislikes: Sleep… still.
  4. Favourite food: Steak. Where do these girls get their taste from?
  5. Favourite game to play: Peek-a-boo.
  6. Favourite saying: “Dad dad’’. Although, I am proud to add that today (what timing, hey) there was a clear and distinct “mum’’. Yay!
  7. Favourite song: When her sister sings Put your finger on your finger on your finger.
  8. Favourite television show: OK, so she’s not old enough for TV just yet, but she has been known to become a little glued to the box when Toy Box comes on.
  9. Favourite book: Growl. Eeerytime the word “growl’’ is read, she responds with “grrrr’’. Cute.
  10. Favourite friend: Her big sister. Clearly. Apart from when she gets in her face too much and then she doesn’t want a bar of her.

What traits do you love about your cherubs? Can you relate to any of the above?

Thats beautiful – I would have too long a list to post here ! but i can say each and every one of my 5 beautiful babies, have something unique that is their own, for what i love them for xxx

    • Kel says:

That’s really lovely, Elisha. It’s incredible how vastly different our children can be, but we love them all in equal measure.
And yes, you might need a couple of blog posts for yours!! Hehe!! 😉

  2. sarah says:

gorgeous girls! and yay for getting Holly to say Mum!! good going for 10months 😛 off to check out abc reading eggs Miss M would love that!

    • Kel says:

It’s taken quite a bit of effort to get her to say “Mum”, Sarah. She’s been saying “dad” and “Ella” for quite a while now! “Mum” still sounds like “ubb”, but I’m certainly not complaining! 🙂
And good luck with Reading Eggs. It’s fabulous!

  3. What a lovely read! Your giggle pot and my CrashGirl have quite a bit in common. Especially the OK thing. It’s always said with her head tilted to the side!

  4. Aww Kellie, your girls are just beautiful! and they sound bright as little buttons 🙂 Isn’t it lovely to see Ella’s love for her little sister xxx

    • Kel says:

It certainly is, Melanie. I hope that continues as they grow. She really can’t get enough of her little sister at the moment! x

  5. Your girls are beautiful Kellie! And they both love steak, little cuties 🙂

    x

    • Kel says:

It’s costing us a fortune, Kellie!! LOL! They both have incredible tastebuds – olives, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes…. Will be keeping them away from the caviar, that’s for sure! 🙂

  6. What gorgeous girls, and so lovely that they will always have each other as their best friend. I must get out the hairy maclarey book again too, my eldest son loved it!

  7. natasha says:

I think its awesome that your girls love steak, and its tiring when babies hate sleep, my twins didn’t sleep through till they were 10 months old. I nearly went crazy…. They are adorable 🙂 Beautiful post. Natasha x

    • Kel says:

Oh, Natasha, I’m praying that once the teething stops (it’s been going for a full month now!), then I’ll finally get a full night of sleep. Here’s hoping, anyway!
And thanks for your kinds words too. xx

  8. Kirsty says:

Sounds like you’re going to have a couple of performers there! Isn’t it lovely that your girls clearly love each other so much already – that’s absoutely wonderful. Beautiful post.

    • Kel says:

Oh yes, most definitely, Kirsty. Baby Holly would be up there with Ella each week during dance lessons, apart from the fact she hasn’t figured out how to get her legs to work yet!!

  9. Nee says:

Such beautiful lil princesses. I think my Will & Ella would get on very well! Is she ready to learn that steak is cow? Will has a habit of naming every animal we eat – very disturbing!

So glad your joining in x

    • Kel says:

Oh dear, Nee!! Too funny. She talks about it being cow, but I don’t know if it’s actually registered yet!
Can just imagine Will and Ella together – lots of mischief, I’m sure. x

  10. They are just the most gorgeous precious girls you’ve got there! I started my little boys on Reading Eggs because you’ve mentioned it a few times and now I have two little obsessed people as well 🙂

    • Kel says:

That’s so fantastic, Kate. Glad to hear they’re loving it! I’m sure they’re just like Ella too – “can I do just one more level, pleeease Mum?”. Five levels later…
As I said on Twitter last night, we’ve now bought the six-month subscription, knowing her school will provide us with free access to it come February! I think more schools should take it on board. It would be so hepful for those kids that struggle learning to read.

  11. Cheryle says:

    Beautiful Family

  12. Great idea. I tried to do something similar when scrapbooking birthdays but didn’t keep it up.

    • Kel says:

Oh, doing it for birthdays is a great idea. I love that. I did a slideshow video of Ella for her first birthday and then never got around to doing it for her second and third. Wish I had now. 🙂

  13. Naomi Ellis says:

Oh my! your girls are just so gorgeous. Totally love your post about them and what a wonderful record to look back on later. I so love the put your finger on your finger on your finger Haha! Thanks so much for linking up. N x

    • Kel says:

Hehe!! Yes, we’ve moved on from The Wiggly Woo and the Ning Nang Nong. Will be interesting to see what song comes next!!
Thanks so much for organising this linky, Naomi. It’s such a fabulous idea.xx
