She then went on to tell a rather inspiring tale of what the asker received. So, with that in mind, I’m taking a deep breath and going to ask you all in my nicest possible voice for a little something. Here goes…

    You’ve probably heard me tweet, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, blog post and scream from my front verandah about the Australian Women and Social Media survey I’m doing with my lovely friend Louisa Claire from Brands Meets Blog. That survey finishes tonight at 9pm.

    This morning I’m sharing the Australian Women and Social Media survey on my Facebook page. By 9pm I’m hoping to see under the “share’’ section of the status the number 50. Yes, I want to see it shared FIFTY times on Facebook. Can we do it? YES, WE CAN! Was that last line lame? YES IT WAS!

    Circle of Moms, Top 25 Aussie Mum BlogsI HAVE never been regarded as the most popular girl in the playground. So why the heck did I put myself into a blogging popularity contest?  

    Initially I decided not to enter the Top 25 Aussie Mum Blogs. Really, what was the point? Then I noticed some of my fave fellow bloggers had and I thought I’d look silly by not doing it. (Great logic there). So I clicked the button and typed in www.threelilprincesses.com. That was followed by a slight panic attack and visions of being picked last for the school Tee Ball team.

    Since then, I have been blown away. I have no idea who you are, but thank you for voting. I’m at No. 33 at the time of writing this. Looking at those above me and just below, I figure my run will end soon. And that’s OK. As I said, I’m no Miss Popularity. And I’ve always been OK with that too.

    My goal is simply to keep voting for the bloggers I love and who I think deserve a bit of recognition for their efforts. I hope you’ll join me in doing the same.

    IF YOU’RE reading this early Sunday morning, I’m about to board a plane home to North West Tasmania after four days in muggy, wet Melbourne. If you’re working on QantasLink this morning, apologies, that smell is eminating from MY suitcase. Need to invest in some more powerful deodorant, I think.

    I’ll have a few posts this week about my trip, but some highlights were:

    • The location of Medina Executive South Yarra couldn’t have been more perfect. It was actually a coincidence, but it ended up being close to EVERYTHING we needed to get to. I highly recommend it.
    • We became so familiar with South Yarra as we drove around in our Ford, courtesy of Thrifty Car Rental, Ella began to notice familiar sights. The Bloke in The Shed introduced her to the Treasury Building and when seeing it a second time, she piped up with: “Look Dad, that’s the building that has treasure in it’’.
    • DFO South Wharf was probably one of the better DFOs I’ve been to in Melbourne. I am the world’s worst shopper (Julian outdoes me in this department), but I still managed a pair of Guess jeans, some heels and too much clothing for the girls. Always the way.
    • Meeting so many bloggers in one spot at the Kids Business Bloggers Brunch was truly fantastic, not to mention inspiring. It was nice to put some more real-life faces to pint-sized avatars. Although, once again, the main comment I received was: “you sound so much bigger on your blog’’. My only regret was not meeting everyone or spending more time with those I had brief chats with.
    • And on the Bloggers Brunch, there were a few brands which really stood out for me. I’m hoping to introduce you to some of those over the next few weeks.
    • There was so much rain at the Melbourne Zoo for our visit we noticed zoo staff building an ark. Despite the weather, an animal-loving one-year-old and four-year-old thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlight was the giraffes, because Ella really wants one as a pet. For The Bloke in The Shed and my brother it was this animal:lion drinking at Melbourne Zoo
    • A picnic dinner at the Royal Botanic Gardens with good food and even better company was a relaxing start to our trip. Ella and her new friend Bliss hit it off so well, you’d swear they’d been friends for years. You would be astounded to hear the type of adventures that await highly imaginative pre-schoolers in the gardens.
    • I have fallen in love with the Prahran Market. I am seriously considering moving to Melbourne now. Ella was salivating as she eyed off all the olives. I’m ready to head back for a Caramalised fig and almond gelato.Melbourne Zoo giraffe and seal

    birthday girl with tiara onANOTHER month, another birthday. It is seriously like that in this house.  Yesterday we marked Princess Ella’s fourth birthday. Writing that down just blows me away. It seems like only yesterday I was holding her in my arms for the first time. Totally dependent. Oh, so tiny. And covered in gunk.

    Now, she’s a super confident young girl. A social butterfly, who can ease the toughest of social situations. Incredibly bright and a big thinker not bound by limits. And she also happens to be the funniest person I know.

    We marked her birthday today with a small family barbecue at the Bells Parade park, at Latrobe,

    and the traditional O’Brien candle race (it’s seriously like watching grass grow, but they love it). Note there are only two candles. We forgot to pack more.

    She was also spoilt with some beautiful gifts, including a 300-piece bead set. We ended up with the 300-piece bead set on the floor, at which point I was tempted to get the Dyson out.

    I might add the majority of her presents are still on Christmas layby. Well, seriously, what store creates Christmas laybys that can’t be picked up until Christmas!

    I’M GOING on a jet plane to Adelaide today. Or Radelaide, rather. Although, who am I to make jokes. I live in Tasmania. I think we shut our shops half an hour earlier than the city that always sleeps.

    The occasion is a Kelloggs Bloggers Brunch, where I get to eat cereal and talk kids, health and my favourite meal of the day. And can I just say, you know you’ve made it when you get your blog on a cereal packet. Right?

    So anyway, I thought I’d best ditch the holey jeans and trakky top for something a little more appropriate. Considering I don’t do fashion – I tend to buy classic items that I can still wear 10 years from now – this is the portrait of a non-fashionista trying hard to be a fashionista. Possibly trying too hard.

    OK, enough with the woof whistling. I have to thank Koolaman Designs, ECCO Shoes and Swish ECO Hair for helping me try and look chic.

    A beautiful Audrey pendant, hand stamped with Princess Ella and Li’l Holly’s names. The appeal is its daintiness. I’m not into chunky jewellery. Everything I wear is very petite – probably because I’m very petite. This one measures 2.8cm high by 2.8cm wide and can fit 34 characters on it. At $170, it’s something to buy that special person this Christmas. It has timeless appeal (big tick) and is something I’ll pass on to the girls one day. You can buy online.

    ECCO Shoes:

    I fell in love with ECCO back when it released its Autumn/Winter range. The Kalama 50mm is a cute ankle strap sandal made using genuine leather. In fact, its leather is of such high quality it sells to luxury designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Coach and Porsche. That’s classic enough for me. I love that the straps are adjustable, it has ample cushioning and there’s no such thing as “breaking in’’ required. At 150cm short, I probably require something with a little more heel though. But otherwise, I’m impressed. There are quite a few styles from the 2010 Spring/Summer range I have my eye on.

    If my hair feels good, then I feel good. So yesterday I indulged in a cut and a few extra foils to tie me over till my next appointment. This little ‘do I can thank my lovely hairdresser at Swish Eco Hair in Devonport, Tasmania for. And we probably should give a little shoutout to her ghd straightener for that smooth, shiny finish. Swish have a Facebook group.
