WIN: Zhu-Fari review and major Zhu Zhu pack giveaway

LAST month we welcomed adorable twins into our home. What? You missed that news? So you don’t remember this Zhu-rrific good time?

    Zhu-fari zebra leopard

This is Zhu Zhu Pets Zhu-Leopard and Zhu-Zebra. They’re part of the newly released Zhu-Fari range.

Let me introduce you to them.

    Zhu-Fari leopard Zhu Zhu

Zhu-Leopard: She’s the sweeter of the two. She makes little cat noises and is always happy to rub up against your leg when you’re cooking dinner… then scoots off again in another direction, before doing a 360 and returning to your leg again. Yes, just a little clingy is our Zhu-Leopard.

    Zhu-Fari Zebra Zhu Zhu

Zhu-Zebra: He’s the boisterous one and also Princess Ella’s favourite. In turn, he’s always looking out for her (see photo). Most likely because they have similar personality traits – they’re noisy (cue: galloping horse-like noises before he takes off), won’t sit still and if there’s a door open, they’re off exploring before you even realise they’re gone. I did find him in the pantry the other day trying to sniff out the cupcakes.

They also came with their own little habitats. Although, they do tend to encroach on ours more often than not. Particularly the kitchen, as you’ll see:

There were plenty of giggles as the pair catapulted off the end of the ramp. Yes, this was an obsession for a while there. Poor pets!

Further laughter was had when one of them went around in circles and couldn’t get out of the jungle roundabout.

Again, poor pets. Although, after watching this video, you’ll be saying “poor mum”.

Ella’s favourite part is the little green and purple worms. They’re placed into the top of the tree and, with the help of a lever, come out a hole at the bottom.

With Christmas fast approaching, they’re an ideal gift for children 3 years-plus looking for their own “pet’’. And much cheaper. They’ve been voted Australian Toy of the Year Winner for Girls, but the range also caters for boys, with Ninja Zhu Zhus. They’re small, about the size of a real hamster, similar in weight and are easy to use – press the cute paw back button and away they go. They’re fast, so just watch out.

The noise factor can irritate some parents. However, the fact they make my girls giggle, makes me happy. And I find the noises quite cute, with the decibel level not piercing. So I don’t have a problem with them. NOTE: To turn them off, press the back buttons or the nose a second time.

The only other issue is the wheels can play havoc if they come anywhere near little girls’ hair, so heed the warning on the side of the box.

Lastly, the duo are from a good breed: here’s the rest of the Zhu-fari tribe:

The Zhu Zhu Pets retail for $20 each and the accessories range in price. They are available at Target, Kmart, Big W, Toys R Us and all major toy retailers.

  • GUEST POST: Your blog is important to us

GUEST POST: Your blog is important to us

    Glenys Power Cupcake City
    Glenys Power of Cupcake City

Hi, I’m Glenys Power, owner of Cupcake City. This is a guest post to follow up on Kellie’s “Working with PR post”.

Whether you are just starting a blog or have been running one for a while, you are important to online business. Specifically WAHM businesses need your assistance. Most mummy businesses are run on, as my dad says “The smell of an oily rag”. There is little, if any, room for a marketing budget. There is, however, almost always an item or two that can be given to you to use as a prize for a competition to help promote the business.

So bloggers and businesses can help each other. In fact I think we have a great synergistic relationship.

    Businesses can provide bloggers with:

    • A featured post that you didn’t write yourself
    • A guest post on a related topic to your blog
    • Products to give away
    • Money through banner ads

All these things can help to both fund your blog and create interest for your readership.

    Blogs provide businesses with:

Third party recommendations – your readership trust you. As a business we know that word of mouth sells better than any other marketing tactic you can name. If you honestly like a product and recommend it you will help drive sales.

Links – Links are vital for a webpage to rank well in search.  Using my website as a case study for illustration; let’s suppose I want to rank on page 1 of Google for the key-phrase “cupcake stand”.

Now for Google to believe that this cupcake page is in fact about cupcake stands, they look for links that have text in them that substantiates this. There is nothing better than a link that says.. “you can buy this fabulous cupcake stand from Cupcake City. AND the words “cupcake stand” links to the page that is about the cupcake stand.

This type of link is gold, so if you find yourself working with a business make sure to ask them what the anchor text should say and refrain from the old “click here” link. It also helps if the link is in the standard “link” blue that we are all used to and if it is in a slightly larger font size.

I really encourage you to be open to working with more businesses. Be brave! If there is a business on facebook you’ve used or noticed then approach them. Let them know you’re a blogger and you’d like to.. run an article on them / do a product spotlight featuring an item / have a giveaway… whatever suites you.

It will help if you have a media kit that tells the business a bit about you and your websites statistics, but don’t be put off if you’re just new. It might mean that you really can only ask $5 to run a feature article instead of $25. It’s a start and your price can always go up as your readership does.

Cupcake City can supply you with lovely cupcake decorations, wrappers and more. She has also been helping other businesses with their search engine optimization for the last 2 years.
